Who Else Wants to Get Paid for Writing?

Interested in getting a freelance writing guide to kick start your freelance writing career?
The Web gobbles up content and freelance writers are in demand more than ever before so there’s never been a better time to start your own freelance writing business or boost your income through freelance writing and get paid for your writing.
As a freelance writer I’m often asked how to become a freelance writer which is why I’m super excited that the Unconventional Guides newest resource is The Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing
I’ve personally used and loved several other Unconventional Guides including The Empire Building Kit and the Travel Hacking Cartel so I know they’re excellent.
You can check out the sales blurb for The Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing with an overview of the guide, frequently asked questions and pricing options here but I thought I’d write a quick review so you can decide if it would be helpful to you.

What The Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing covers

New Freelance Writing Course ReviewLike all the unconventional guides The Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing is professionally written, edited and designed. Which means it’s a pleasure to read because the content is well laid out, easy to find and easy on the eye.
The content covered includes:
  • How to get started with your freelance writing career, including motivation to stop thinking about becoming a freelance writer and actually do it;
  • How to manage the stuff every writer fears like rejection, writers block and failure to pitch;
  • The different types of writing opportunities available;
  • How to find your niche;
  • How to find clients and get freelance writing work;
  • How to pitch your ideas;
  • How to write professionally;
  • How much to charge for your freelance writing including blog posts, magazine features, web copy and social media management;
  • How to handle  contracts, budgets and taxes;
  • What to do if freelance writing work dries up;
  • How to grow your new freelance writing business;
  • How to boost your bank balance;
  • How to build your reputation as a freelance writer.

What I like about The Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing

  • The guide has a sense of humor – it’s written by a real person and it makes you excited about the business of freelance writing, even if you’ve already been doing it for a while like me;
  • There are plenty of ideas on how to come up with ideas which is good because many wannabe writers are scared their ideas will dry up;
  • It includes tips on making connections online which I know is important because that’s helped me grow my freelance writing business;
  • It deals well with beating the challenge of being your own boss and staying motivated because in my experience that holds people back from getting started with the freelance writing career;
  • It covers how to deal with rejection because that’s part of succeeding as a freelance writer.

What The Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing won’t help you with

There’s no on-going support and you can’t get feedback on your writing so the only way you can gauge how well you’re doing is by how often your work is accepted or not.
In addition to buying  The Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing I’d recommend joining a group of freelance writers on Facebook or Linkedin or seeing if there’s a MeetUp group close to you (or starting one specifically for freelance writers) so that you can feel supported and get help from other people as you launch your freelance writing career.
To be a successful freelance writer you need to develop a thick skin, be persistent and write every day. If that sounds like you The Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing is a great place to start and with two pricing options starting at $39 it’s a great deal too because the interviews with freelance writers are priceless.
Disclosure:  I’m an affiliate for the Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing because I love it and know you’ll love it too. As an affiliate I get a percentage of the cost but you don’t pay any extra for the guide.
Any proceeds help cover the costs of running Successful Blogging and support me as I support you with your digital marketing efforts.
You can read more in my disclosure policy but if you’d like to find out more about the The Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing, I’d love if you use the affiliate links on this page.
If it’s not something you’re interested in right now or if you’d rather not use the links that’s okay. Whatever happens I’ll be back with more blogging tips soon.

This looks like an awesome guide to have in the freelance writers’ arsenal. The more the merrier and the better updated the better, I say :)

Thanks Annabel. Great post and very helpful.
I have bought the ‘Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing’ and delighted to see the content. I was in the middle of downloading the MP3 files when the page vanished. I went into the address given for the downloads but was not able to locate it anywhere. I am so disappointed. Are you able to suggest any way I can still receive these? I am sure there is a wealth of information on the I can use.

Hey Annabel…I wanted to get back to you asap to let you know the files I mentioned in my comment above are now safely downloaded on my computer. They came via my email. I have already listened to the MP3 interviews and commenced reading the guide. What a winner! This is a body of writing which goes over and beyond what I expected. Thankyou for writing about it on your blog. Greatly appreciated.
